Leonie’s Longing Community Novena

This novena was originally prayed by members of the Leonie’s Longing community over the course of nine days in June 2019. You are most welcome to pray it for your own intentions (and for the growth of our apostolate, please!) at any time. God bless!

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus. And thank you for the men and women who have made a gift of themselves by entering religious life. Holy Spirit, please share your Wisdom and Counsel with us during this novena. We ask you to speak to our hearts now in this time of quiet prayer.

Heavenly Father, we ask for grateful hearts. Help us recognize your hand in all of the events of our lives and notice the various ways you show us your love.

We particularly ask for the grace to be grateful for the difficulties and trials we have encountered in the past and are experiencing now. Help us to be like St. Paul and give thanks in all circumstances. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we turn to you in search of the peace that the world cannot give. Give us, we pray, true peace of heart and holy confidence as we strive to do your will. We thank you Lord for the gift you have given us, your children, the gifts we have already received from your hand and those you have prepared for us in the future so that we may serve you with peaceful hearts every day of our lives. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to show us your personal, individual love today. We are told that you love us, but often we feel it isn’t true. We can easily be convinced that you don’t love us after all. Help us to boldly declare the truth that you love us. Please let this truth penetrate the core of our hearts and transform us so we may be conduits of your love. Amen.

Heavenly Father, you are mercy itself. We turn to you in the trials of our daily lives knowing that your love for us is infinite and your mercies are new every morning. We ask you for the grace to seek your will in all things and as you extend your mercy over us lead us to become vessels of mercy for others as well. We place all our hope in you. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we ask for the desire and courage to forgive. We know that unforgiveness creates a wall between your love and our hearts. Please provide us with the supernatural graces we need to forgive those who have hurt us. We especially ask you to soften our hearts towards representatives of the church who have harmed us. Grant us this freedom so we may love more fully. Amen.
